Dr. Jennifer Kissinger

From the young age of eight, Jennifer Kissinger knew her calling: to become a veterinarian. Growing up in both Chicago and Washington D.C., Jennifer's deep connection with the animal world only strengthened as she cared for numerous pets of all kinds.

She pursued her scientific interests at Antioch College in Ohio, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Her commitment to her childhood dream led her to the prestigious Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1992.

Following graduation, Dr. Kissinger embarked on her veterinary career in Seattle, Washington, spending three years in private practice. Her entrepreneurial spirit then led her east to Massachusetts, where she purchased the Berkshire Cat Hospital. After six successful years as a practice owner, a longing for the Pacific Northwest drew her back to Seattle. This move marked a couple milestones in her life.  First, she adopted her son, Justin.  Second,  she transitioned her focus from feline medicine and surgery to the demanding and dynamic field of emergency veterinary medicine and surgery. A concentration she has dedicated the past 25 years to.

A cornerstone of Dr. Kissinger's practice is a desire for clear communication and collaboration with pet owners. This partnership approach allows clients to make informed decisions and a unified effort toward the best possible outcome for each animal.

Driven by a commitment to providing the highest level of care, Dr. Kissinger has consistently sought up-to-date training and education in emergency medicine, radiology, ultrasound, and surgery.  She also values a collaborative environment with specialists in the veterinary medical field.

In 2023, a desire to be closer to family prompted a move to Georgia. Dr. Kissinger currently resides here with her son, Justin, who is pursuing his business degree at Georgia Gwinnett College, and their four feline companions: Coconut, Keesham, Pixel, and Oreo. Reflecting her long-standing commitment to ethical and compassionate living, she has been a vegetarian for nearly four decades. In her leisure time, Dr. Kissinger enjoys the simple pleasures of gardening, the enrichment of travel, and spending cherished moments with her family and friends.
